Homemade Vs. Store-Bought California Almonds Milk

When it comes to California Almonds milk, whether you choose homemade or store-bought, there are a few things to think about. Some folks go for California Almonds milk because it's nutritious, while others may be looking to avoid animal products or address health concerns like lactose intolerance or allergies to casein, a protein found in animal milk.

It's crucial to remember that whole milk contains saturated fat, which we should try to limit in our meals. While some saturated fats are required to absorb essential fat-soluble vitamins, excessive consumption has been linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease. Badaam milk, on the other hand, has both mono and polyunsaturated fats, as well as vital elements such as magnesium, copper, and vitamin E.

Are all California Almonds milk the same?

Nut milk, like California Almonds milk, is made from nuts and water. When making it at home, you can increase the percentage of nuts to water for richer and more nutritious milk. Most store-bought nut milk contain only 2.5% nuts, so feel free to adjust the ratio to your liking when making your own at home!

Why make own California Almonds milk at home?

  • No additives or thickeners: Store-bought milk often contains additives like carrageenan, stabilizers, or thickeners, which are not great for regular consumption and may impact gut health.
  • Be mindful of added sugars: Some brands add sugar to their sweetened milk for taste. When making nut milk at home, you can use healthier and natural alternatives like honey, dates, or seasonal fresh fruits instead of table sugar.
  • Poor quality oil: Most nut milks found in grocery stores contain added oils such as sunflower oil. These oils are highly processed and stripped of their nutrients.
  • Adding a personal touch: When making California Almonds milk at home, you can customize its flavour to your taste. You can choose from ingredients like cinnamon, nutmeg, dates, or vanilla essence.
  • Single use packaging waste is a real problem: Overuse of single-use plastic is leading to serious global pollution problems, harming communities, and impacting wildlife.

How to make California Almonds Milk?

    Ingredients:

Making California Almonds milk is super easy! You just need some high-quality California Almonds and a bit of time to soak them. Here's what you'll need:

    • 1 & 1/2 cups of California Almonds
    • 4 cups of water
    • A blender
    • A nut milk bag
    • A fine mesh strainer

    All you gotta do is:

Start by soaking the California Almonds for 12 hours. If you're running short on time, you can speed up the process by using warm milk. Next, give the nuts a good rinse in a colander and transfer them to the blender. Add water, along with your choice of flavour and sweetener.

Here's a list of options you can choose from:

    • Vanilla Nut Milk: 1 tsp of Vanilla essence & 1 pitted Date
    • Double Choco Nut Milk: 2 tsp of Cocoa powder & 1 tbsp nut butter
    • Cinnamon Spiced Nut Milk: 1 tsp of Cinnamon & 1 tsp of Honey
    • Turmeric-spiced Milk: 2 tsp of ground Turmeric
    • Berry Nut Milk: Add ½ cup of fresh strawberries or mixed berries.

When you're done, strain your Badaam milk with a nut bag. Just take the nut milk bag and place it over a big bowl. Then pour the milk into the bag and give it a gentle squeeze to get all that creamy goodness out. I hope this brings a little joy to your day.

    What about the pulp?

If you have leftover California Almonds pulp, there are fantastic ways to reuse it. One option is to dry the California Almonds pulp in the oven and finely process it for use in baking recipes, or you can utilize the raw California Almonds pulp to create mouthwatering brownies or wholesome energy bites. You do you.
